1) What’s your favorite magazine?
Well, I have a few subscriptions. Playboy, Rolling Stone, Popular Mechanics, and Consumer Reports. Obviously, I appreciate them all. If I had to cut it down to one, I would say Consumer Reports is my fave.
2) What book are you currently reading?
Am re-reading Alice in Wonderland. Oh, and a bunch Italy and Rome tour books. Heading there very soon.
3) What’s the worst book you ever read?
A severed head. It was the most confusing and over written piece of shit I have ever read. Now, I have a lit degree, so I have read a LOT of book. A book that sucks this much truly stands out. It was like the plot line was formulated by six retarded cats spinning scenario wheels, with each retarded cat being given a characters name.
Wanna hear something weird, though. I enjoyed reading it. I couldn’t put it down. It was like a car accident, it was compelling. So, does that make it good? No, it can’t. That doesn’t make it right.
4) What makes a book perfect for you?
I am glad you asked. Short chapters. I love a book that has chapters no more than 3 or 4 pages. I like to be able to get out of the book whenever I want, and I never leave in the middle of a chapter. Quite frankly, I do a great bit of reading on the crapper. So, I need to be able to commit long term or short term.
Oh, and don’t tell me that is disgusting. It is the only free and quiet time I have all day. Think about that.
5) If you could buy any book right now, which one would it be?
There is a dream book out there. I have never seen it in person, but I know it exists. There are not many copies in circulation, less than ten. It is a Ralph Steadman illustrated ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Ralph is the arist who did all the work for Hunter s Thompson. Very iconic stuff, and I love his style. I have met him, and he is wonderful. That drawing up there is from the collection. The books, when they go on the market, are several grand each. To me, worth it!
