What was your favorite subject in school?
art. Does that count? I enjoyed art and PE. Not so much the scholastic stuff. I do now, but I didn’t then
math. always hated it, still do. Pretty much fear it. If I can’t be done with a calculator… I can’t do anything with it.
no. The coolest teacher I ever had was in science and chemistry… two things I have zero interest in. .Ok, wait, I had a couple of GREAT college professors. One was ‘Fruity Barooty’, he was a lit teacher who was weird and eccentric and wonderful. I talked my friend into taking the class the next semester and the professor had died over the summer. He made reading fun again, as did Victor Villanueva… who was just crazy. Oh, and Allen Woodman. He was my creative writing teacher for years. It is because of him I still write
actually, I hated almost everything I had to read in lit class… that says a lot when you realize I got a degree in Literature. The stuff I liked wasn’t being taught, or even talked about – Hunter Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski, and Henry Miller. In fact, I think it was Kermit who turned me on to all of those.
shit yeah! Especially knowing what I know now. It is a time of no responsibility or reality. I enjoyed high school. Again, I know this is where I was supposed to say I was a nerd, or didn’t have any friends. Sorry, reader, not true. High school kicked ass. I had great friends, we got to go to the cool kids parties, and I did ok with girls. i had jobs and a car… it was great! |
Victor Villanueva, havent thought of him in years! He was one of the very best NAU professors I ever had!!
